ABOUT JESÚS DAVID MENDOZA

The generation of immigrants I’m from had an untarnished vision of America as a nation built on a hill; a vision that offered opportunity to anyone willing to make the sacrifice of traveling down the narrow road of hard work, education, following the rule of law, and having faith in a higher power. My family, having come from Colombia, had no conception of America being a nation with a troubled past. To us, this nation was and still is beautiful; its roads, buildings, culture – you name it.

It was difficult being the one kid in school who didn’t speak English, and cultural + economic difficulties continued long after mastering the language. My father, a former architect, spent most of what he earned on my education. We were assisted by neighbors, school administrators, roommates, and family. We would have never succeeded had it not been for the love offered to us by many.

After my parents divorced, conditions placed us into economic hardship. Accompanying my parents to their work, when my mother picked me up she would take me to her job at a nursing home. My father would pick me up when the sun came down, and my mother stayed at work. My family has always emphasized education and faith, and these two ideals have gone hand-in-hand.

Graduating from UConn in Political Science and Human Rights, I specialized my Political Science degree on US law and my Human Rights degree has served me for understanding international law. Achieving my masters abroad at the Grenoble Ecole de Management, I graduated with a Masters in International Business.

I came back to the United States armed with multiple degrees, multiple languages, but no money. Then, with much dedication I became a skilled engineer and have happily lived in Arizona for my entire professional life. We offer a sense of liberty no other state or community offers, and I intend to ensure we maintain this liberty. The liberty I find in Arizona, and in much of the nation, is a blessing not bestowed to the rest of the world.

Liberty is the fertile soil from which our nation thrives. Liberty must be protected, respected and ensured by government, but it does not come from government – liberty is the base automata from which all of the rights of the individual are born, and from which then propagate the feeling of freedom to the collective.

Our national identity, under its original framework must be preserved.  New voices must be heard – or else the last hope of humanity will perish – and with it, the last light of human hope. Counter-vailing forces oppose this perspective – arguing American history is one of oppression, yet fail to recognize all of human history is one of oppression; an oppression that our Creator despised, that Providence ruled against; and thus, formed the foundations of our government in order to liberate the oppressed. A government that would intentionally evolve through time to establish liberties, protections, and ideals that would form the ideological basis for the global fight against oppression.

I thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my fight for Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District. I hope to earn your support for the 2024 election.

Sincerely,

– Jesús David Mendoza –
